In 2001, Jay Hutchek and Rob Crawford formed MCC (Millennium Custom Coating), a division that specializes in the application of polyureas, polyurethane coatings, and polyurethane foam. Jay continued to operate his spray-in bed liner shop while Rob continued full time obligations to Glas-Craft working in the tech service department, and later the product development group.

Over the years, MCC operated as a sub contractor, serving the field for secondary containment, coating applications and OEM application. MCC also served as an outside R&D test facility for Glas-Craft. Most notably was the field test of the original versions of the P2 gun, development of the ISO lube kit, three-component urethane systems, MMH system, and a number of others.

A working relationship was developed from the chemistry between the ingenuity of the engineering staff at Glas-Craft and real world experience of MCC, along with an intimate understanding of the equipment and the industry it served.

While it was never broadly publicized that Rob ran a spray application on the side, it was well accepted by the Glas-Craft management that the depth of knowledge that was brought forth from the development of equipment and the ability to service it after the sale.

This knowledge and depth of understanding helped in the flexibility of Glas-Craft for developing and building custom configured equipment packages that achieved successful, economical solutions for the markets that we served. This is the spirit MCC continues, working with the established Glas-Craft distributor base to create solutions for the markets we serve.

MCC is a fully stocking distributor for the Glas-Craft Polyurethane, Polyurea, and FRP product lines. MCC offers technical service, parts, training, and field consulting for all Glas-Craft equipment, along with custom configuration of new and older Glas-Craft / Graco systems for specific markets.

    ROB CRAWFORD

Rob Crawford started at Glas-Craft in 1990 working part time in the shipping dept while attending school. He moved around the organization working in the machine shop and manufacturing until 1992, when he graduated from Vincennes University with an AS in Aviation maintenance technology and FAA A&P license.

After a brief leave from the company to work in the aviation field, Rob returned to Glas-Craft in 1995, accepting a supervisor’s position in the urethane product production department.

In May of 1996, he was promoted to the Tech Service Lab manager.  The Glas-Craft Tech Service Lab served many support functions to different departments, including;

  • Technical support to field - before, during, & after the sale
  • Equipment service
  • Warranty evaluations and quality feed back
  • Product development, both to improve product quality and reliability, and custom configuration to meet a specific customer and market needs
  • Product demonstrations for new products and/or material testing
  • Training schools and creation of many of the required material
During this time, many of you may have had the opportunity to meet Rob during product demonstrations, product development projects, training sessions, field service calls, exhibitions, or distributor conferences.

In the spring of 2005 an opportunity was created for Rob to join the Engineering Group in the role of  Product Development, this allowed him to spend more time focusing on design improvement to existing components and products, as well as developing new products. He oversaw the implementation of these products into manufacturing.

During his tenure at Glas-Craft, Rob started a spray-on bed liner business in 1997. In 2001, Rob and Jay Hutchek merged together to form MCC (Millennium Custom Coatings). This business specialized in OEM & field application of polyurea coatings.

    JAY HUTCHEK

Jay Hutchek has managed several companies through the years.  He has always wanted to be the hands on type of person.  He worked full-time for eight years while pursuing his degree at Purdue University.  He graduated from Purdue University in 1999 with a BS in Organizational Leadership and Supervision.  During that time he decided that he wanted to work for himself when he finished his degree.  Jay’s last semester at college was spent studying and working with his brother getting bank approvals and researching many spray-on bed liner companies.   One week after graduation from Purdue University, he went for training and opened his spray-on bed liner business in June of 1999.  He has spent the last ten years building this company and continues to do so today.

In 2001 Jay partnered up with Rob Crawford and opened the doors to a second business, Millennium Custom Coatings.  MCC has been a stand alone company that serviced clients in need of OEM, secondary containment, and specialty field coatings across the mid west.   Do to the needs of MCC’s Clients, Jay has been able to grasp not only the technical aspects of the equipment but has also gained the knowledge in the specific applications of polyurea .

Jay and Rob have been  able to work directly with Glas-Craft through the years in many R & D tests.  The need for real world application was vital to Glas-Craft, in order to release a reliable product to their consumers.  Two production components that Jay and Rob tested and where later released are the Probler 2 gun and the MMH system.  By putting this equipment on line at their shop, Glas-Craft was able to dial in these projects before they released them to the consumer.
